Ray Malone is an Irish writer and artist living in Berlin, Germany, working on a series of projects based on various musical and/or literary models. Recently awarded Second Prize in the Gregory O'Donoghue International Poetry Competition. His work has been published in numerous journals in the US, UK and Ireland.

A verse

turning to it, day in, day
out, the heart held to the space,
the white, iteration of emptiness,
dead poets in the corners
of cafes, songs
stirring in the depths of
endless cups,
to whom to address it,
whose ear urgent too
to hear,
damn question,
insensible answer,
turning to it, time and again,
such freight found in the path,
the flower unnoticed,
brought to the buttonhole
of a passer-by
