Things That My Mother Taught Me
I want to surf my hospital bed like I've never seen a bigger wave, or dance jigs in my kitchen at four in the morning. I want to follow the footsteps of those who went before me as I search for the promised land in my scattered and broken dreams. I don't want to hover over the threshold of the door to the other side, one foot here and one foot there. I want to pound on the wood with all my strength because my life and death depends on it. I have to do it all for her now, because she can't anymore.
