Never Forget

The green pool below me shimmers gold in the fading sunlight of the infamous golden hour. The air is brighter after the rain, like a weight that had been lifted from the world so everything can be beautiful again if only for a brief moment before the sunset, and I am trapped there in the perfume of the land and the dying day. I will be reborn the next day in my dry bed, and it wouldn't matter that I never remembered to water my plants out on my balcony. The late summer shower quenched their thirst.
