The Odd Couple

His dough chin hung words that meant nothing to his wife.
His eyes became lazy and were not known to speak
to her anymore. The belt around his trousers sneaked
to a new hole every so many years. The fattening fingers
struggled to grip his life, and things slipped from him.

She carried on with the usual, her facial skin walrus-like.
While her feet swelled up like full bladders. She carried
a bag of shopping in each hand let her shoulders mould
into her back. Her shadow resembled a bison. They hadn't
known each other for years, passed snores during the night.
