Fairytale Ghazal

I've worn a path to your secrets but still
get lost along the way, eat the crumbs but still

hunger for your numbing kiss, mumble
threats and incantations, even pray, but still

you don't wake to my touch, your teeth
too big for your smile glisten, but still

huffing and puffing you blow down
my gingerbread house, eat the porridge, but still

I sit in the grove of desire, blistered by
these ill-fitting slippers, hopeless but still…
