I choose to stare at the
nimble waves sing the siren song,
as a hint of night etches the sky.
I chose the night.
The life you live in your dreams
is your real life;
all else is a long pause
in between the music,
for dramatic effect,
for character foil, for breathing,
for taking half a step into the sunlight,
which is our night of certain worries
among short days of uncertain joys.
