Under the deodar trees
These deodar trees have always been here, in fact, we tell people, take left
at the deodars trees, to join the new highway that has come upon this
old woodland. Under the deodars, we kick the cones down the hill
and watch them stop. The pine needles fall into a halo at the
feet of the deodar trees and we count time by the falling
leaves, falling like petals sacrificed for decisions.
When we are tired, we sit, in the time
before time was measured
in minutes, in hours,
in profit, in
loss.
