Pamelyn Casto
That No One Remembers
(after E. E. Cummings)
I now lie beneath a granite gravestone
care for me comes through wind and rain
not through human touch and diligence
greatly did I love my departed life
should I fret that no one now cares?
the busyness still spins, keeps building
world enough worries for this earth to
remember the smallest no more
me in my quick minute of living
in my tiniest space of being am now
some forgotten person whose meaningless name
tomorrow I will be pleased to withdraw even more.
