LC Gutierrez is a product of many places in the South and the Caribbean, as well as writing and comparative literature programs at Louisiana State and Tulane University. An erstwhile academic, he now writes, teaches and plays trombone in Madrid, Spain. His work is most recently published in South Florida Poetry Journal, Trampoline Journal, Sweet, Hobart and Rabid Oak.

Our Father who art unreasonable
give us this night
the nothingness of empty hands
and shoeless feet.

My bed a book
of shuffled psalms,
I lay me down
to scatter tethered sheep.

Bread unleavened,
ox unyoked.
Holy water scattered,
in diaspora freed of thought
