Tanka
buzzing
as if drunk from blood
a mosquito
bobs in the moonlight
at my bedroom window
cockroaches
briskly shuffle through
a shaft of light
as if just to get a glimpse
of the moon that makes it

Collin Barber works at a hospital in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. His poetry has appeared in various journals and anthologies, including A New Resonance 5: Emerging Voices in English-Language Haiku (Red Moon Press, 2007).
