Dolo Diaz
Coffee Ambush
Mother hovered while Father got dressed.
His morning coffee, espresso in a moka pot,
served in a tiny cup, matching saucer, no sugar.
She poured as he walked from bedroom to kitchen.
She listened to his footsteps approaching.
He passed by like a comet and drank the coffee
while walking out the door. But when she missed,
he just left without it. A small nothing to him.
A small tragedy for her.
