The Importuner
My hand above the surface,
you didn't reach out for it.
So now I claim that I was only waving
hello. Or goodbye.
Why am I back here before you?
Somebody else rescued me.
But he wanted more from me.
So here I am again
within striking distance from you
who left when I slipped and fell down
the burning river.
