Broke, Not Broken
Tomorrow, my debt is due.
And I can't pay.
But this moment, the bed is soft.
A patch of sunlight is upon us.
My five-year-old girl
hints of morning breath,
endearing her more to me.
She makes a trampoline
of my back.
And we both know my spine
won't break.
Then tomorrow, they'll call.
But they can't have it all.
No, they won't have it all.
