the grass is always greener
as a child, I yearned for entrance to this secret adult world
the one that exists behind closed doors
where they talk about Christmas and birthday presents
and probably eat lots of chocolate that they don't share with me
now, all I want is to go back to the haze of blissful ignorance
the fleeting worries of a child
and wide eyed wonder at the world
what was it like to taste ice cream for the first time?
to pick a whole grapevine clean on a lazy Sunday afternoon?
