The Return
can tin howl in unison with the wind
a duet of memories
the signpost wavered
its words cried the sound of a child's violin
wracking discordant chords
that remembered all the past
in one sawn line
drawn across
laying open the bloodied flesh raw
for predators swarming
years of black swans beyond the bulrushes
unperturbed
as I travelled fast
lifting dust
on the no-exit metal road
with the indigenous 'keep out' sign
