Sarah Daly
Some Prince
My idol is broken, proven
false, made of glass,
and illusion—
I could have been George Sand,
Helen of Troy, but instead I settled
for matrimony's wealth and splendor,
filling vast rooms where wolves
can nip my thoughts-—
I gather anger's shards
veins throbbing, urging flight
before man's guilt compels
me to remain.
