Andalucia

Light is a knife flash
over the gilt palace,
breaking wave on the street.
Southern sun in stars
falls through orange groves
in pools on pathways.
Hand-claps, beating hooves.
Black eyes, cutting manes.
Horses dance under palms.
Trailing notes like flight,
guitars sing the sky.
Beyond this, nightfall.
Beyond this, edge of earth.
Memory writes its name on my body.
