"... brevity is the soul of wit ..."
- William Shakespeare

Editor's Note

Once a year, Shot Glass Journal features poets from a particular region. Issue #2 featured New Zealand poets and this Issue #5 features poets from Britain and Ireland which includes poets from England, Ireland, Scotland, and the Channel Islands. In addition, international poets from Australia, Canada, Italy, New Zealand, the Philippines, and the US continue to give Shot Glass Journal its diverse poetic style.

Shot Glass journal has a limited number of poets that can be featured in each issue. Selecting the final poets is a difficult task due to the number of quality poems that are submitted to the journal. In our effort to foster new talent and expose our readers to new voices, this Issue of Shot Glass welcomes more new poets to its pages than previous issues. The reader will find formal poetry forms including the Tritina, the Jisei, the mirror-oddquain, the Ovielljo, the Rondel, the Sijo, the Tanka, and the Triolet, as well as traditional and experimental free verse.

We are encouraged by the interest of our readers and poets that our idea for an online journal of short poetry was a welcome one. We have added a Comments section to Muse-Pie Press website, and encourage you to leave your comments about our journals or website.

We hope you enjoy Issue #5 of Shot Glass Journal.
