Aden Thomas
And You, a Skipping Stone
Someone chose a stone
near the shore
from a billion other stones
and engraved your initials.
It may have taken several days
or a week or more.
No one remembers just how long
they heard the etching above the water's edge.
The stone was eventually thrown
across the water,
each skip
a pulse over water's veins.
Live your life above the water
with an infusion of the air.
Live your life below the water
with the weight of prophecy.
