It's All the Flautist's Fault
Today a friend posted about a lyrebird
that had learned a few snatches of song
from a decent flute player and then passed it on
to others of his kind who passed it on,
you know, like we do. And someone responded,
wondering antagonistically if the flautist
hadn't interfered with nature
and I thought, well, aren't we all a part of nature
and if so, isn't our very existence natural interference.
I wanted to respond but I didn't because I couldn't
decide which emoji to click.
