The Hoot Of The Owl

It is what the owl almost says
That sets to trembling
The hearts of shrews and voles
That shoos his brethren —
Rivals-- from the woods
Outside my window
That woos the wandering woman
Owl home from flown away
That finds me lying in early morning
Ruing the wreck and lack of days.
