Turn Your Head

Turn your head and multiply the stars.
Wash your feet in the rustling glade.
Pitch until you are wary, then holler in
the deep of the night to warn the dawn
of your coming. Gallop and launch out.
Midnight wearies the body but the soul
is never by the darkness disheartened.
Gladness steals away in a sleep but
dreams don't lie suspended in night,
nor are happy thoughts summoned
by what we think. Passing pleasure
and the eschewing reign of enormous
pain will hollow out the dimpled stars,
making visible the Universe before you.
