Tiny Red Apples

We walk together on Eglinton Street, Galway City quiet.
We are present, forgiving to each other
Glad we have left the hospital behind; I wonder if she is sad.

The cafe visits now delayed, we drift into the Five Star
Grab groceries, I see tiny shiny apples
Laid bare in blue cardboard trays

I salivate, if she will buy some, I know my childish desire will be met. Will she notice how red can warp the mind,
into a red apple mood.

We leave fruitless, hasten to Woodquay, and catch the bus home.
