Something of Interest

The calla lilies have bloomed,
waist-high on their thick stalks.

A grey wagtail stirs the ivy
creeping up the plane tree.

This will not interest you,
nor will the wooing pigeons.

Yet to find me in the square
on the only sunny bench,

you smile.
