Tyson West
Sense Set
I mourn my swatch of light as darkness falls
in scents of lilac, cinnamon, and skunk.
While music and the curses of a lout
pop silent, my desire to cuddle stalls
and passion for my daughters' dramas sunk.
And God? I do not care enough to doubt.
When flesh and senses fail, I most will miss
a childlike mind to swallow holy bunk.
In disbelief I stand just as devout,
we each depart with our own goodbye kiss –
Lights out.
