High on the Hardanger Plateau
High on the Hardanger Plateau
where the land is as empty as the sky
and every distance deceives,
there is a line of ancient cairns.
Rock was gathered in to stone
for the love of passing strangers,
each cairn a prayer for you and me,
a light to burn as night draws in.
