Slow River
Through the overhanging alders
the sun throws a flickering newsreel
across the trunks of trees.
And the names of the dead are
written on the water-lily pads.
A banded argonis lands
on a broken reed and lifts
its wings to wait for the end
of its damsel-fly day.
Fading on the bank,
forget-me-nots.
