Brittany is a young poet from Nelson, New Zealand, trying to navigate the dizzying world of her early twenties through poems about her past, present, and future.
hope is a whisper not a shout
a gentle sort of whisper rolls down through the hills
throws itself freely into the northern winds
and rides the currents through the cobbled streets
dodging the paths of the suits and the tourists
furrowing it's way through cracks and under archways
building in anticipation and buzzing all the while
before slamming into the hearts of those unafraid to look up
in a city that forces their heads down
"keep going" the whisper murmurs
"without your eyes to see it, what is the point of the sky being so beautiful?"
