Ceren
Ceren collides with a Ceren
she'd never thought she'd be,
but clutches the bread for Sunday
breakfast. She's been sent,
called upon to walk the street,
to avoid the dogs, the yellow
frazzled nation still discovering
itself in occasional gunfire
and howling men on balconies.
Her sandals flap the gravel;
her wrist awash in bracelets
that say Ceren, CEREN, orange
with blue outlines and green
with burgundy that might be gold.
