Suzanne Herschell lives in the harbour side community of Eastbourne across from Wellington in New Zealand. She's an artist, curator, selector and judge of national exhibitions and poet with writing published in Meniscus, NZPS A Fine Line, The Ghazal Page and others.

coupled to
brush as the day
was running thin dripping
solvent and the last claimable minutes
held a calm fitting her fingers felt the stroke
soothe the untrammelled expanse of canvas with
oil massaging its mal-woven warp and strained threads
and tangle holding before to now as if the hitherto made sense
of these frayed ends and knots with no notion of place
or destination within the void of white space
the story unravelling in its creation
yet transcendent this design
from her unbidden
hand
