Carolyn Gerrish is a Sydney poet. She has published five collections of poetry. The last being 'The View From the Moon' (Island Press, 2011). She teaches creative writing classes in the community and often performs her work.

possibilityvertical/horizontal spacesa brush
raised for a calligraphic conquesta body
poised to leap fingers on the keyboard
rapture of the secret narrativesoon to be

between the conception
& the creation
then someone turns off the powermessage
abortedimpulse flatlinescurtains move to
reveal an empty roomthe kite loses altitude
