Daniel Ames
Tuna
I swam once a hundred miles off the coast of California
in a big pen for wild tuna
they dropped me in between them
thousands swam past
forty, fifty, sixty miles per hour
they never cut me
with their razor sharp fins
I reached out
cut me, I said
they refused
think of that
when you're at The Hump in Santa Monica
and pieces of your old friends
are placed before you
