Adele Kenny
And No One Knows
Most journeys begin on a ledge. She could
have jumped but prefers to remain unforgiven,
to slap dance on top of a dumpster (in time
with the wholeness of loss). Confess or
deny—intentions and sins are what's left.
Her Bible—that stop sign—lies on the dining
room table, vested in grief—and no one knows
what she feels when night falls and the horrors
come home. The argument is never about
acceptance. Like anything deeply observed,
there is only the reach of things that happen—
the moments of time in between.
