Far
out
into
space we launch
round metal eyeballs
to stare at military sites
or to indulgently peep at distant cosmic fires,
stalk abandoned orphans, seek fat offspring larger than Jupiter, and uncover clues
about the nature of repulsive dark energy, if it evolves, and whether dark matter is cool, warm, or unaccountably lazy.
It's relaxing to kick back and solve complex puzzles, yet so shameful to allow the most menacing riddles to harass us constantly;
should we ignore the dark mysteries of our self-destructive cruelty and hatred?
Why do we not cooperate for our common good?
Can we not focus on why some
choose a leader that's
a silly,
inept,
vain
fool?
