Diamonds in the Sky Are Put in Wedding Rings
A necklace glitters gold with the hours we spent
fighting.
Dreams are only dreams, and stars are only
lighting.
Wishes are made on all that shines,
to reach across imaginary lines—
to see and feel our wants and say,
"This is mine."
But thoughts are waves we cannot touch,
and perfection is asking far too much.
so hang a necklace 'round the next best thing,
and hope it acts as such.
But stars don't fall in the hand you hold,
and gold endowed with dreams
is still only gold.
