the breeze turns
another page
I used to read at a leisurely pace, but my goal now is to get to the end in
record-breaking time. I don't want to die mid-novel and destroy the plot, or
mid-poem and crush the poet's heart, or mid-recipe and not get to the lipsmacking.
But it's hard to keep up that pace. Any day now I expect to stop
reading altogether and go to the library to take a nap like all the other old
people who upon waking hope they remember what page they're on.
