Proof
What proof do you need of my love
for you? I would pluck the stars
from the skies to adorn your neck.
I would make the moon a halo
illuminating your tender face.
In the soft of night I would caress
your skin, bring shivers to your frame.
But no, the confirmation you need
is not found in such fancy ways.
The corroboration you seek is seen
in sweeping fallen leaves in the courtyard,
in vacuuming the carpet, in doing the washing up,
all those daily chores, tokens of affection
that chain my time and prove I care.
