We Dream of Wishes
We dream of wishes
And wake, remembering only shimmering unicorns
We were never granted.
Rising to our own disappointment,
We nibble our stale bread
And throw away the leftovers.
While Sarah, down our same road, dreams
Of bread crusts to feed her children.
We dream of wishes
And wake, throwing away
Our own unicorns
That we could make real by
Granting.
