Jennifer Lothrigel
Eight of Cups
She sits wrinkled by time
her arms wrapped around
a large basket
that holds eight full cups,
illusions,
Her ego begs her to keep holding tight,
to the eight cups that took so long to fill.
Her face has lost its pink
cheeks,
thirsting
for a single drop
while the cups slowly evaporate.
Illusions make horrible meals
like lovers who leave at 3am.
