Benjamin Nardolilli
Coney Island Avenue Lounge
Another midnight switchover
among self-effacing neon,
after the drink specials have gone home
darkness gets to break the mirrors,
none of us mind, we enjoy the gift
of sitting here without any reflection
We are an ancient people now,
with no idea how bad, or conversely
how terrible we all look together
or separated, whether sitting,
sinking, or sometimes rising
off this wooden edge chewed by time
