Ann Grogan
Excuses
Some excuse or curse misogyny
by pointing out ancient men
are of "their times."
Would they excuse past wars or blight,
abuse of babes by mothers
waylaid by sin?
Those who promote perfidy,
who think lies less able to destroy
than gaping wounds to mind and body,
who claim words cannot harm:
let them remember this—
a death is still a death.
