Cleanse
Me
Saline
Fog city.
Soften vocal cords
To hum beauty from baneful thoughts
Still echoing from the wails of my shadows and shame.
Howls do not frighten anymore
Than breadcrumbs along
Willow trees.
Bless her.
Bless
Me.
The title of the poem comes from the Wiyot tribe of California,
and the original name of Eureka. It means "where you sit and rest."
