October Sky

My
eyes
enjoy
the lovely
rounded gibbous moon.
It brings me pleasure when I see
a sight less rousing than one shot with red, more buoyant
than a moon in faded blue. Its humped façade, a bowed protuberance, restores rhythm
to our course, reminds of waning when the season wanes
acceptance of a phase of change
when we need not shine
but settle.
A time
of
ebb.
