Lonnard Dean Watkins lives in Wellington, New Zealand where he works as an IT consultant. An accomplished artist, Dean turned to poetry, where the simplicity of his Zen Buddhism background influences his poems. He currently writes Zen poetry, Fibonacci poems, and Haiku, where he’s won online contests. He also holds on-line poetry workshops on Zen poetry. The artistic and poetic nature of his work is clearly displayed in some of the Haiga he has produced. Dean turned to Fibonacci because of the idea of the mathematical sequence, but could also see the potential to have the poem become a building block of a story building from the top to the final line being the foundation of the poem. He continues to experiment with multi-stanzas, building the poem not only with words but with form.
