THE FORTRESS OF THE SEA WITCH
(A FIBONACCI NAUTILAS)

There
was
ivy
binding her. . .
no, not ivy, kelp
with sharpened spikes that pierced her flesh
her wicked blood seeping into, polluting the sea
where our daughters swam, where our daughters lingered by the shore.
But someone--or some Thing--released the sea witch from her bonds
and so we gather once again to reverse our fortunes. . .
and so we infuse this golden string with our powers
and so we dive deep within the realm of fairy tale
and myth to rescue our daughters from the sea witch's
fortress and so discover that
it was we who bound
them there, it
was us. . .
us
us.
