Rachel Heimowitz is an emerging poet living in Israel. My poems have appeared in Poetica Magazine, Bare Hands Poetry, Silent Revelations, have been anthologized in Voices Anthology 2012, and will be upcoming in Poetry Quarterly.
She opens her hand in the focused light,
fashions a long necked swan, then a gull
flying into a moon that has scattered
itself to pieces on the water, gives a voice
to the night that rings like a delicate hammer
touching the rounded, yellow metal of a bell.
The wind drowns out the music as eyes
return to the pale screen where just the curl
of her fingers twist the night time shadows
into these unspoken stories.
