A native of Kolkata, India, Kushal Poddar (1977- ) writes poetries, fictions and scripts for television

The Knife

The knife lost its neatness.
I fold and refold the paper
forming a line for the blade
and still it makes a windy cut.
I show it to a child and he knows
it, a crocodile.
