Laurice Gilbert is the President of the New Zealand Poetry Society, as a result of randomly making eye contact with someone important at an Annual General Meeting. She is working on her first collection, which she plans to launch in December 2011 whether it's finished or not, just to get it out of the way so she can get on with some serious work.
What I Want I Simply Reach Out & Take
And when my body gives in to it –
a flood of gratitude washing between my fingers,
finger tips flying in a seizure of hormonal proportions,
the haphazard effects of carnal homage
to sweetened egg whites, caressed by cornflour,
fondled by vinegar, slowly steadily desiccated
by a cool but audacious oven –
pavlova rapture hits the G-spot.
