The trip was never a Metaphor
Today, this poem is to call you dead
if the meaning of life is, still, to be alive
not as a tree in the cemetery
that got its name from holy or sweet love
or home its eyes crawling over the spine
of the future we owe tomorrow, who are caged
in the ribs that bent over to kiss the ground
as nutrients to their fleeing family tree
Who kept searching for holy or sweet love
or home their heels rooted on fire, racing,
but they never catch them self. Today,
this poem is to call you dead
if the meaning of life is still to be alive.
