Advice to old beauties –
Watching blown beauties on a reality show,
I think these women must have dissembling mirrors that
still tell them they are the fairest,
when in truth, their scalpel savaged faces should throw
back carnival mirror reflections.
Better I think, to make peace with age
that then rewards by a gentle easing in.
And when photos in silver frames illicit
''Grannie you were a looker''
smile at yourself as if in cahoots
with an old friend you had such times with.
Not feeling beauty bereft,
but preening briefly at this proof that
beauty was your particular talent.
